Official Statement of The Sojo Circle Coven: regarding State Vs. Lynn E. Caverly (19CR 055315)
On August 7, 2019, Lynn E. Caverly, also known as Amethyst Oakenheart, was arrested by the Pitt County Sheriff (arrest number 241052). Lynn is charged with two felony counts, Embezzlement and Larceny against The Sojo Circle.
Lynn was a founding member of The Sojourner Tradition, and Treasurer during 2016 and 2017. In 2018 she stepped away from active leadership, while remaining a Tribe member in good standing. She then returned in 2019 to serve as our Secretary. Evidence of the alleged theft of our organization’s treasury took place from November 2017 through December 2018, leaving a negative account balance and significant unpaid debts.
Per our charter guidelines for unethical and illegal conduct, by unanimous vote, The Sojo Circle membership impeached Lynn Caverly from Leadership of The Sojo Circle and expulsed her from membership of The Sojo Tribe. In compliance with charter guidelines, on June 28, 2019 we submitted all evidence of illegal activity to the Greenville Police Department for investigation. An outstanding warrant against Lynn, for misdemeanor worthless checks, was found dating back to May 23, 2017 (17CR053570). All three warrants were served with her arrest on August 7th. We have been pleased by the efforts of the District Attorney’s office on our behalf throughout this on-going legal process.
The Sojo Circle membership is saddened by the betrayal of trust from someone we long considered a close friend and mentor. Our hope is that justice will be fairly done, for the highest good of all involved, harming none. We ask our magickal community to hold this space with us, seeking clarity, balance and restitution for all involved throughout this difficult time.
